Currents was commissioned by the Texas Institute for Rehabilitation and Research in Houston. The aim of the neurophysiologists is to help patients suffering from spinal cord injuries to reawaken their nerves' own potential by gently stimulating the surrounding tissues with faint electric currents. This pilot film project resulted in a very personal experience about the mystery of the body functions and the resilience of spirit. In quite a different realm, it helped me to gain a whole new understanding of electricity as used in electronic music synthesis.
